Who we are
Founded in 1992 by Adair Margo, FEMAP Foundation is the U.S.-based fundraising and awareness organization supporting FEMAP México and its mission to improve the quality of life of vulnerable individuals and families through medical care, education, and community outreach.
Located in El Paso, Texas, along the U.S.–Mexico border, FEMAP Foundation strengthens connections between communities in both countries to address shared public health concerns and regional needs. Each year, hundreds of people from across the Paso del Norte region participate in our activities and support our humanitarian efforts.
We believe philanthropy is a two-way partnership between Mexico and the United States. Improving conditions along the border requires binational cooperation, shared knowledge, and the exchange of resources and expertise.
FEMAP Foundation was chartered as a Texas nonprofit corporation on July 13, 1992. It is recognized as a tax-exempt public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Mrs. Guadalupe Arizpe de la Vega, founder of FEMAP, and Adair Margo, founder of the FEMAP Foundation.
Our Founder
Guadalupe Arizpe
De La Vega
In 1973, driven by a concern for women and a new ideology, Guadalupe Arizpe De La Vega empowered women by teaching them how to take control of their reproductive lives. This ideology not only transformed her self-image but also turned her into a proactive force, leading her to found a non-profit organization called FEMAP.
In a world that continues to face unprecedented challenges, the strength of our community spirit shines as a beacon of hope. Every year, our community weaves stronger the support network that defines us, demonstrating that, together, we can overcome any adversity.
Chosen as one of CNN's "Top 10 Heroes" in 2010 and awarded the Woodrow Wilson Award for Public Service in 2013.
"What better goal in life than the beautiful smile of a baby in the arms of a strong, healthy, and empowered person? That magical moment of transformation is what I see every day in our hospital and I love it. That is what will change our world."
