Tuesday, November 12th, 2013 -- El Paso Community College’s Diversity Programs recognized Guadalupe Arizpe de De la Vega with the Mentor’s Award at a dinner held on Wednesday, October16, 2013. The keynote speaker this year was Dolores Huerta, President of the Dolores Huerta Foundation & Co-Founder of the United Farm Workers.
Through the years, Mrs. De la Vega has received various recognitions. Among them are: an Honorary Doctorate degree in Medicine from the University of St Lucia, the Margaret Sanger Award, the Hannah R. Solomon Award, the Paul Harris Award under Rotary International, and the Shining World Compassion Award 2010.
Mrs. De La Vega was selected for this award by the El Paso Community College nomination committee for her continuous hard work with FEMAP Foundation (Federacion Mexicana de Asociaciones Privadas).
Her work was recognized internationally when Mrs. De la Vega was one of the ten CNN Heroes worldwide.
