Tuesday, February 1st, 2011 -- Four hours of toiling over a nomination resulted in a top recognition and a $25,000 gift for an organization that has been working uninterrupted in Cd. Juarez for 37 years. Native El Pasoan and volunteer, Lory Goldberg took upon herself to nominate Guadalupe De la Vega for the CNN Hero Award in the summer of 2010.

The nomination resulted in Mrs. De la Vega rising to the Top Ten Heroes out of 10,000 nominees from around the world and a gift of $25,000 for the construction of the new FEMAP Nursing School in Cd. Juarez.
