Tuesday, November 12th, 2013 -- With the proceeds from the Pink Army photo-shoot which was held on April 26, 2013, FEMAP/SADEC was able to conduct free mammogram screenings for 20 women in Juarez to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
“Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death in women at the national level and Chihuahua is no stranger to this, the most unfortunate aspect is that many of these women do not know that they have suffered from the disease until it was too late to start a treatment and be cured. Early detection is the best choice for the survival of patients with breast cancer”, said Graciela de León Sánchez, Outreach Program Coordinator for FEMAP/SADEC in Cd. Juarez.
In addition to the free mammograms completed by specialists, FEMAP/SADEC also educated the women on early detection and distributed literature on breast self-exams.
