Wednesday, August 1st, 2012 -- An inaugural luncheon in honor of heroic volunteers who have made remarkable contributions to improve the lives of people in great need in the El Paso/Juarez Borderland Region will be held on Saturday, August 25, 10 a.m. at the Coronado Country Club. Cost is $40 and proceeds will go to the pediatric orthopedic clinic at FEMAP’s Hospital de la Familia. Please call (915) 544-4151 by Tuesday, August 21 if you would like to join us.

For 27 years, Dr. Cynthia Fisher, PT, DPT has faithfully accompanied Dr. Jacob Heydemann to FEMAP’s Hospital de la Familia to provide orthopeadic medical care to thousands of children suffering of orthopeadic deformities. The team has alleviated suffering, enhanced health and brought joy to children and their families from Cd. Juárez, Chihuahua and the states of Coahuila, Durango, Sinaloa, and Sonora. Dr. Fisher provides therapy sessions to children. In addition, Dr. Fisher teaches and trains parents on how to better care for their children who have special needs.

For 30 years, Mrs. Rosaura Aguilar and Mrs. Irma Quiroz have devotedly and lovingly served the Asilo de Ancianos de Senecu - a shelter for elderly homeless people and also supported the Asilo y la Ciudad del Niño, one of the oldest and most respected orphanages in Cd. Juarez. Through countless volunteer hours and fundraising for 30 years, they have helped ensure that there is a place to care for the most vulnerable and needy citizens of our region.
