FEMAP’s Capital Campaign Has Now Raised $10 Million

Thursday, February 5th, 2015 -- With Health and Education Comes Opportunity

To continue to meet the growing needs of our bi-national region, FEMAP Foundation in 2013 launched a $15 million Capital Campaign to build a new FEMAP School of Nursing, and remodel and expand Hospital de la Familia in Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico.

“Education and access to health care makes a difference by opening doors, widening horizons and giving people the chance to change their lives for the better. All too often, those who stand to benefit most are held back by poverty, prejudice, or lack of opportunity,” explains Adolpho Telles, President, FEMAP Foundation Board of Directors. “Health and education help disadvantaged people fundamentally and permanently. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to give anyone in our bi-national region equal access to quality health services and higher education, whatever their circumstances. All this leads to greater economic prosperity”.

The Capital Campaign has raised $10 million from donors in Mexico and the U.S. The campaign is a bi-national effort with donors from both Mexico and the United States.

FEMAP Foundation is excited to report that we have raised $10 million from donors in Mexico and the U.S.

In 1973, the goal of Guadalupe Arizpe de De la Vega was to make family planning and prenatal care accessible to women living in poverty. Inspired by a vision to provide access to good medical care education for future and expectant mothers in Ciudad Juárez, Mrs. De la Vega built a two-room clinic named Clinica de la Familia which became Hospital de la Familia in 1976. By the late ‘70s the nongovernmental nonprofit FEMAP (Federacion Mexicana de Empresas y Asociaciones Privadas) was born.

Over the years, FEMAP has grown to two full-service inpatient hospitals; a nursing school; and has implemented community based programs in the areas of health, the advancement of children and adolescent’s emotional and physical development and economic growth through the micro-finance program.

Today, nurtured by an army of volunteer health promoters, FEMAP’s community programs are far-reaching and our mission has grown to encompass improving the overall quality of life of the individual, the family and society through education, research and service in our bi-national community.

FEMAP Foundation is a U.S. based public charity, chartered as a Texas nonprofit corporation. It is tax exempt under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The FEMAP Foundation was established to support FEMAP’s programs.
