ValorArte para Niñas y Niños
In partnership with the Paso del Norte Health Foundation, FEMAP created the ValorArte para Niñas y Niños program. Under the guidance of international choreographer and educator Jacques D'Amboise, the ValorArte program uses dance to let children’s confidence soar. ValorArte para Niñas y Niños program allows young minds discover an artistic expression and academic discipline they didn’t know they had. The program enriches creative thinking, fortifies a sense of security, and strengthens self-discipline while keeping 568 (543 fourth graders and 25 of the advanced group) children physically active through 570 dance sessions through the 2014-2015 school year. Participating children were elementary students in the fourth grade from seven different schools: Octavio Paz, Constitución, Nuevo Mexico, Jose Rubio Ortega, Lombardo Toledano, Leona Vicario and Club Sertoma.
In 2014-2015 school year, The ValorArte para Niños y Niñas program received $50,000 from the Dilworth Family through the FEMAP Foundation and from the 2014 Paso del Norte Foundation Challenge Fund.
